Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The DBA will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing our organisation’s databases, ensuring high performance, availability, and security. The ideal candidate will have experience in database installation, configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and troubleshooting. You will collaborate with developers, devops team, and other stakeholders to support database needs and implement best practices.

Job Description

  • Assessing current database systems, documentation, identify & list problems and implement solutions to improve it.
  • Creating and maintaining database standards and policies for storage management, user management, and security management
  • Supporting database design, creation, and testing activities
  • Administering database objects to achieve optimum utilization, improve query processing performance
  • Monitoring usage, transaction volumes, response times, concurrency levels, etc.
  • Designing database backup, archiving, and storage strategy
  • Defining and implementing event triggers that will alert on potential database performance or integrity issues
  • Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
  • Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or above in Computer Engineering or closely related field
  • More than 1 year experience in database administration
  • Experience in installing, supporting and managing High availability Database in Production.
  • Experience in Backup, Archival and Restoration of Database.
  • Experience in OS and Database Performance tuning, indexing, Advanced SQL queries, Regular Expressions, Database Statistics Collections, Query Optimization techniques, jobs etc.
  • Monitoring usage, transaction volumes, response times, concurrency levels.
  • Experience in Replication Setup, GTID and Troubleshooting.
  • Experience in setup High-availability.
  • Experience in Store Procedures, triggers and Function, Partition.
  • Experience in Data Migration.
  • Should be aware of storage management, user management, and security management.
  • Experience in automating routine jobs using shell / Perl scripting.
  • Experience with AWS Cloud technologies (ec2, RDS).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a team or operations team on tight deadlines.
  • Certified by industry-recognized DBA Certifications is a plus
